Ready to Move Beyond Perfectionism?

Join me on Sunday, April 9, 2023 at the incredible Nectar Yoga Retreat on Bowen Island, BC, for a day designed to help you do just that.

How good would your life feel if you found freedom from trying to be PERFECT?

This day of retreat is all about tasting that life and together taking steps to move toward it

During this transformative afternoon we’ll hold space for one another as we seek to understand where our perfectionistic traits come from, honour the positive ways those traits have helped us in life, and practice tools that will allow us let go of specific behaviours that may no longer be serving us in our work, relationships and health.

You’ll leave with a strong sense of the ease, energy and self-acceptance that become possible in your life once you start to let go of perfectionistic behaviours AND tools to help you move move forward in the direction you want to go.

Hey There!

I’m Heather, and I can’t wait to host you!

EVENT OVERVIEW

We will gather from 12:00-5:30 pm on Sunday, March 5, 2023 to move, breathe, learn, and get curious about how our lives might look and feel when we cut ourselves some slack.  As we move between the incredible Yoga Dome and Onyx Lodge, we’ll laugh, practice self-acceptance, and use both coaching and yoga as vehicles to create our own unique plans for moving beyond perfectionism in our lives.

There is no one “right” way to move beyond perfectionism.  Just as each of us is unique, so too are our stories, beliefs, experiences, dreams, and values.  The beauty of sharing time together as a group of self-identifying perfectionists (wherever we are on that journey) is that we can support one another as we own our stories, accept ourselves more deeply, and create plans for moving forward that are as individual as we are.

As we share practices and tools for moving beyond perfectionism, you’ll have the freedom to choose those which you’d like to incorporate into your daily life going forward.  More importantly, you’ll learn to give yourself permission to practice and apply these imperfectly.

You’ll leave your immersive experience feeling appreciated, refreshed, challenged, supported, and equipped to take the steps you need in order to create more ease, energy and joy in your life by letting go of the specific ways that perfectionism isn’t serving you.

This retreat is for you if:

  • You identify with perfectionism and suspect or know it’s having a negative impact on your life (health, relationships with yourself or others)

  • You set excessively high standards for yourself and others

  • Your self-esteem is low and you’re often unkind to yourself

  • You are afraid of failing or making mistakes

  • You struggle to celebrate your successes

  • You’re afraid of (and try to avoid) challenging and uncomfortable feelings

  • You procrastinate OR spend excessive amounts of time/energy on getting things “just right”

Your experience includes:

  • Intention setting and lovingkindness mediation in the incredible yoga dome

  • A supportive group coaching environment in which to unpack and begin moving beyond perfectionism in your own life

  • Tools to take home that will help you understand, accept and love yourself more deeply

  • A nourishing 75-minute yang/yin yoga practice

  • Specific strategies to help you let go of perfectionistic behaviours where they aren’t serving

  • A delicious vegan/vegetarian lunch, snack and unlimited warm drinks

  • Closing circle of love, affirmation, and gratitude

How different would life feel if you could:

  • Cut yourself some slack and be kinder to yourself

  • Improve your relationships by being less hard on others

  • Grow in self-esteem, confidence and self-love

  • Celebrate your wins

  • Stop thinking “I’ll be happy when…” and feel joy NOW

  • Say “done is better than perfect” and mean it (because of all the extra time and energy you’ll have for other things is worth it?)

  • Feel grounded in who you are and trust that others like you just for being YOU, not because of your results or what you do

Great news! Life CAN feel this way!

  • During our afternoon together you’ll be seen, loved, and affirmed in who you are

  • You’ll practice kindness to self and gain the tools to start making real change in the ways that perfectionism is holding you back

  • You’ll gain a supportive circle of likeminded humans who are cheering for you

  • You’ll feel empowered and equipped to continue the journey of moving beyond perfectionism toward more ease, energy and fun in life!

What made the retreat so special was Heather’s passion and knowledge. She is truly committed to helping people live their best life. I walked away feeling refreshed and energized in body, mind and spirit. Thank you!!

– SARAH BESTER

What an incredible experience! I feel stretched, both mentally and physically. We laughed, we cried, we danced and we connected. I walked away with a new understanding of what truly matters to me and why, of how I can reframe my internal dialogue and how we are really all the same! Our time was full of great conversation, reflection, healing, soulful yoga and delicious food. The Nectar Yoga property was a dream come true. So much love and gratitude!

Meet Heather

Hi there! I’m a former veterinarian and unwavering optimist who delights in helping others find ease, energy, joy and self-acceptance in their lives.  Having overcome decades of living as a Perfectionist and People-pleaser (such a fun double whammy!), I delight in helping others struggling with the exhaustion and resentment that often accompany perfectionism and people-pleasing. I support my clients as they learn to create kind boundaries around their time and energy so they can do more of what they love with the people they most want to be with.

My training as a Certified Professional Coach and Registered Yoga Teacher combine to support my clients in mind, body and soul as they move toward reaching their goals in life.  I offer guidance in the areas of self-acceptance, boundary setting, mindfulness and gratitude practices to combat fear, emotional awareness and resilience, letting go of beliefs which no longer serve, and establishing new habits and behaviour patterns. Ultimately, my clients find they are able to more easily step away from perfectionistic and people-pleasing behaviours toward ease, energy, joy, and confidence.

About Coaching

Coaching is a transformative supported experience that allows you to pause, reflect inward, feel heard, and create your own personal plan for reaching a desired goal.  It is a process of moving forward—while honouring the past but not resting in it—to where you want to be in life.  In the context of our experience together, coaching will be used to reflect on what life might look like if we, as perfectionists, learned to cut ourselves some slack, became more comfortable with the experiences of failure and feeling challenging emotions, and celebrated our accomplishments while also remaining grounded in our identity separate from our results.  There is no right or wrong path in the coaching experience—there is simply your path, and it’s my role as a coach to help you discover and journey along it.

About Yang/Yin Yoga

In the beautiful pairing of yang and yin, we experience the complementary practices of developing strength and stamina in our being (during the more energizing yang beginning) and settling into our deeper spaces of connective tissue and flexibility (during the more restful and passive yin portion).

Both forms of practice invite a supportive connection to breath, and the deep breathwork practices that suit yin practice stimulate the parasympathetic nervous system, allowing us to rest, digest, and absorb deeply.  Combined, the practices allow us to deepen our awareness, move our bodies through healthy ranges of motion, and nurture our minds, bodies, and souls.

Heather's grace allows each practice to become uniquely yours. She is patient, a great listener, warm, welcoming, and took me on an unforgettable journey.
